I was honored to be a part of Flagstaff Shelter Services annual fundraising event Feast For Flagstaff. A variety of local restaurants provide a sampling of their best dishes as well as local beer tastings. This year was special as the amazing documentary photographer Amy S. Martin did a photo expo of many of the individuals who benefit from Flagstaff Shelter Services.
When the director Ross Altenbaugh approached me to help with their event, she was looking to do something different this year. I really wanted to find an open warehouse space to host the event. I also wanted to incorporate an art element into the event that would be moving and would connect with people. Amy Martin did an incredible job of capturing the raw emotion in each individual as well as beautifully telling their stories.
An empty warehouse at the Flagstaff Airpark was the perfect space to host our event. I wanted it be industrial and showcase all of the amazing photos and stories. We hung the photos on walls throughout the space as well as suspended old bed springs from the ceiling to display some as well. Long tables with white linens and lots of greenery were placed down the center of the room as well as lounge seating and high top tables. The event was a great success and I cannot wait to work on next years!
